Pottery Introduction in Paris

Pottery Introduction in Paris for those who want to feel clay come alive

Our pottery introduction classes take place at the Slow Potter studio, located in a quiet, flowered courtyard in the 11th arrondissement. They are hands-on and accessible, designed to let you discover clay and technique without pressure. No lectures, but a first direct experience tailored to each person’s needs.

Do, fail, try again: the freedom of first contact

The first encounter with clay is always surprising: it sticks, it resists, and at the same time it shapes easily. The aim of this initiation is not to make a perfect piece, but to experiment and discover. No prior knowledge or technique is required.

At the end, you’ll keep a small object you created yourself (cup, bowl, trinket dish), and above all, the memory of a moment of discovery.

Sometimes we start with hand-building: simple gestures like forming a ball, pressing, or making an imprint. However, our wheel-throwing initiation is the most popular option, as it allows you to discover the techniques behind most everyday ceramic items.

Our pottery initiation class therefore offers a first approach to pottery, centered on discovery and exploration.

To go further, you can then choose a more complete pottery course or a private wheel-throwing workshop with Chentar.

A hidden studio to slow down, learn, and feel

The pottery studio is tucked away in a quiet corner of the 11th arrondissement. It is full of charm and character, and above all extremely bright. Groups are small (three people maximum), allowing for personalized guidance.

Each pottery initiation session adapts to each person’s pace. Mistakes are part of learning and are considered creative steps.

Everything is provided: clay, tools, kiln, glaze. You don’t need to bring anything, and you can return a few weeks after the session to collect your creation once it has been fired and glazed by us.

A first time that can lead further

Our pottery initiation is a doorway. It doesn’t replace full training, but it offers a first experience.

It attracts people of all ages and backgrounds, with one thing in common: the desire to create.

To extend the experience, longer formats are available, but one first session is enough to discover.

The space is also accessible outside of classes through our open pottery studio format, so you can keep practicing freely.
